About this event

What the new activity centre charges mean for development feasibilities

Victoria is introducing a new infrastructure contributions system across Melbourne’s train and tram zone activity centres, creating a significant new consideration for development feasibility.

Under the proposed framework, developers will contribute $11,350 per new dwelling, alongside new charges for commercial and industrial development, to fund transport, parks, community facilities and other infrastructure.

With the first charges expected from January 2027, this TUD+ Briefing will unpack where the new regime applies, how contributions will be calculated and paid, transitional arrangements and the potential implications for project feasibility and land values.

For developers with projects or sites within Melbourne’s activity centres, the session will outline what you need to know—and what you should be considering now.
